When booking a photo shoot you will have so many questions in mind. One of which is “what do we wear?!”. This is actually an important one, because what you wear makes a huge difference to the final image. In this blog “what to wear to a newborn & baby photoshoot”, I will take you through three simple steps, to help you choose your perfect outfit.
For new mum, there is often a sense of discomfort and reduced confidence in their appearance. It's my responsibility to alleviate that stress and ensure you feel your absolute best. Here are some tips to help you decide on the most suitable wardrobe for the occasion:
Simplicity, the essence of beauty...
Keep it simple!
To make sure the focus is on you and your baby, eliminating any distraction is key!
My first suggestion is to wear clothing with no bright prints, logos, text or cartoon characters.
Doing just that, keeps the focus solely on what’s important, and that is your baby!
Therefore a plain white or neutral blouse with nice comfortable jeans/chinos (preferably light in colour) or a lovely white/neutral dress works perfectly.
For dads I always suggest a white t-shirt and jeans or chinos.
RELAXED…
Whether you're arranging a photo session for a newborn or an older baby, prioritizing comfort is paramount. Feeling at ease and entirely yourself naturally contributes to a more relaxed and enjoyable photoshoot experience.
Few things are as discomforting as clothing that clings or overheats, particularly when you've recently given birth. My suggestion is to select attire that fits your body comfortably, avoiding overly tight or clingy options that might cause you to perspire. A loose, flattering dress that complements your shape is an excellent choice. Alternatively, if dresses aren't your preference, consider opting for trousers or light-colored jeans paired with a comfortable yet stylish blouse.
STYLISH…
The final aspect I'd like to emphasize is the importance of choosing something stylish, or an outfit that makes you feel wonderful! While comfort takes precedence, I also want you to feel extraordinary and radiant on your special day.
In this regard, I believe a charming, easygoing white or neutral dress is always a fantastic choice. It allows you to feel your absolute best while remaining comfortable and at ease. Being a mother myself, I understand that donning something a bit more exquisite, something with a touch of style, has the power to instantly lift one's spirits and make you feel fantastic, even after enduring some sleepless nights.
